330 words · Plain textWelcome to Daily Recap of Sunday's Sermon. It's Saturday, and we've spent this week with Pastor Aaron Anderson's message from Matthew chapter twelve, verses thirty-eight through forty-five, "Something Greater Is Here." You've heard the big idea all week. Because Jesus is the risen Savior and promised King, we must not reject him but receive him as our only hope of salvation. The scribes and Pharisees asked for one more sign, and Jesus promised them the sign of Jonah, his own death and resurrection. He told them that something greater than Jonah and something greater than Solomon was standing right in front of them. So here's one question to carry with you this weekend. Am I an empty house? Jesus described a house that was swept and put in order, but with no one living inside. Pastor Aaron warned that it's possible to clean up our lives without ever truly being saved. He put it this way: "Knowing about Jesus isn't the same thing as receiving him." He wasn't telling us to stop serving our families or doing what's right. He was asking whether those things grow out of a heart that actually loves Jesus. When we sing "All I Have Is Christ," is it true? Does it get us out of bed, help us love our spouse, serve our kids, and love an enemy? And remember the hope he gave us. "Jesus is not hiding. He has made himself known." He is more committed to us than we are to him. He invites the weary to come and find rest, and he comes to live in our house. Pastor Aaron's simple answer was to look to him. He closed with a question worth sitting with today: do you love him? We'd love to see you in church tomorrow as we gather to worship together.
