The Only Mythical Pokémon That Can Evolve

Host 1 In 1999, kids in Japan could win a Pokemon card with their very own photo on it.

Host 2 This is random Pokemon facts?

Host 1 And that today is Collectibles Day.

Host 2 Yeah, so it wasn't just a regular selfie. It selfie. It was actually an N64 64 Pokemon snap photo for Koro Koro Koro Magazine's best photo contest.

Host 1 So can you guess how many kids won?

Host 2 Just five.

Host 1 Wait, like

Host 2 like literally five kids

Host 1 wait really only five?

Host 2 Yeah I mean Ryuichi Abe won with this awesome Gyarados card and it even has a tiny camera symbol on it.

Host 1 oh wow like right instead of the set symbol

Host 2 exactly

Host 1 yeah and the text literally says best photo contest winners prize card

Host 2 so how many exist today

Host 1 nobody knows exactly it is a total mystery

Host 2 that is wild

Host 1 okay let's jump to 1998 kids could win a Magikarp card by acing a Pokemon test in school magazines for the pretend Tamamushi University

Host 2 guess how many kids took the test

Host 1 um over 21,000 but no more than a thousand actually got the card

Host 2 wait why only a thousand

Host 1 the test was just too easy so they actually picked the winners by lottery

Host 2 a lottery man that is rough anyway speaking of 1998 there was this Japan tournament in May where a parent and child played as one team

Host 1 why Kangaskhan

Host 2 because of the pouch connection you know parent and child working together

Host 1 oh right so can you guess the price like at a 2023 auction

Host 2 $175,000

Host 1 no way okay so bringing it back to Koro Magazine they actually revealed Ho-Oh in August 1996.

Host 2 wow can you guess how long fans had to wait for Pokemon Gold and Silver?

Host 1 more than three years

Host 2 three whole years that is forever

Host 1 seriously okay time for the wild facts round rapid fire

let's

Host 2 let's do it

Host 1 so in the English dub Rachel Lilis voiced Misty and Jessie and Eric Stewart voiced Brock and James Heroes and villains arguing with themselves

Host 2 that is wild also artist Megumi Masutani designed Mimikyu the hammer swinging Tinkaton family and the Tandemouse and Mousehold family

Host 1 Riddle time today's Pokemon is Regieleki from Sword and Shield Crown Tundra and in 2020 it became the fastest Pokemon

Host 2 oh yeah it is super fast

Host 1 so what's its base speed is it 150 175 or 200

Host 2 here's a clue it took the title from Deoxys speed form which has a base speed of 180

Host 1 think about it

Host 2 got it it's 200 that's 20 more than Deoxys
