[Josh and Rowan: recorded by the host.]

Host 1: Okay wait, Mew was a secret inside Pokemon red and green Nintendo didn't even know it was in there bro how do you hide a whole Pokemon from the people who made the game

Host 1: I'll tell you how hang on this is random Pokemon facts I'm Josh today is all about legendary and mythical Pokemon okay so back to Mew the cartridge was totally full a programmer named Shigeki Morimoto found about 300 bytes of space it opened up when the debugging tools came out of the game so he stuffed Mew in there and Nintendo had no idea he even told Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata that the cartridge was so full there was hardly room for anything else sneaky right later he said doing that would be unthinkable nowadays I believe him so how did Nintendo find out?

Host 1: Players curious players started getting in touch imagine being the person who gets that email now here's the weird part the idea of a mythical Pokemon is way older than Mew Satoshi Tajiri's first pitch was called capsule monsters it had a rare green dragon hidden in one part of a dungeon finding it and catching it would have taken about two hours for one monster in the pitch these were illusory monsters hard to find hard to catch and gone for good if you missed your chance Mew was the first real mythical added right before the games came out okay it gets better the very first Pokemon event ever was in 1996 a magazine called CoroCoro Comic ran a contest called the legendary Pokemon offer 20 winners mailed in their red or green cartridges so Mew could be added to their games and more than 78,000 people entered 78,000 for 20 spots the contest started in April 1996 just after the games came out in Japan sales were still slow that giveaway was the boost they needed a lot of people say Mew helped the whole series take off one tiny secret Pokemon wow okay new one Cosmog weighs just 0.1 kilograms that's nothing then it evolves into Cosmoem how heavy do you think Cosmoem is like a person like a car 999.9 kilograms that's more than 2200 pounds and Cosmoem is still only 0.1 meters tall a tiny ball that weighs that much it's called the protostar Pokemon that's a 999,800% 999,800% jump the biggest weight gain from evolving of any Pokemon and Cosmoem also holds the opposite record when it evolves into Solgaleo or Lunala it loses more weight than any other Pokemon up and then way down weird right wild facts first one Guinness world records says the first Pokemon ever designed was Raichu not Pikachu Raichu and Mew was the first Pokemon to be trademarked Mew again that Pokemon is everywhere today Raichu first showed up in the 1996 games its horn can smash concrete it can even shatter diamonds don't mess with Raichu riddle time here we go who am I lost or fell short in the indigo league the Johto League Hoenn Sinnoh Unova and Kalosos it took about 22 years after the show began that's a long time to wait finally in Alola I beat Gladion and I became Alola's first champion who am I okay ready it's Ash finally won tomorrow's theme is collectibles get your binders ready see you tomorrow bye this was Josh
